TAICEP At Your Desk: “Introduction to Digital Records”
May 14 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

Date/Time:  Thursday, May 14, 2020, 10:00 am to 11:00 am Eastern (11:15 if we have a lot of questions :))

Description:

Join TAICEP for an introduction to different types of digital student data. This webinar will include information about a number of national and international digital student data systems that allow credentials evaluators, admissions professionals, and others to securely and quickly receive authentic digital student records. Some of the systems focus on verifying graduation data through a secure portal, while others allow an approved recipient to download a learner’s entire educational record. In some cases, digital records can be verified or downloaded through the use of technological innovations such as blockchain, QR codes, or proprietary software, while other systems rely on students logging in to a national repository and releasing their records to your institution.

TAICEP wants to help you navigate this evolving landscape. To that end, Peggy Hendrickson of Transcript Research, a private evaluation company in the US, and Simone Ravaioli of Digitary, a leader in digital student data, will take you on a fast-paced tour of the world of digital student records.

Breaking Bad
May 21 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

Presentation Description:  Maybe it’s my degree in criminology that makes me always think like a “bad guy”. I’ve seen enough academic documents (many real, many definitely fake) and attended enough sessions on fraud and verification to learn how to beat the system if I ever start “Breaking Bad”. Using resources and technology that are easily available to anyone, let me demonstrate exactly how I would hack your institutions’ documentation requirements, gain admission, and take your scholarship money, should I ever decide I’m in the wrong business. Only by realizing and accepting what your institution’s vulnerabilities are, can you develop best practices to protect yourself. Bring your thoughts to the discussion on how, when dealing with international academic documents, to best balance security concerns against the practical considerations of time, cost, and access.
