TAICEP Call for Online Training Co-Author: Evaluating International Secondary Credentials
TAICEP is developing a comprehensive new online training course on Evaluating International Secondary Credentials. We are seeking an experienced professional to co-author this training material to ensure broad geographic, methodological, and sector-wide relevance.
We have already developed a complete first draft of the curriculum, including practical case studies. Please note: This is not an editorial or copy-editing role, but an active, substantive co-authorship of the instructional content and practical application modules.
Key Requirements & Perspective Sought
We are seeking a collaborator who brings an active, modern credential evaluation perspective to complement the existing framework:
- Active Credential Evaluation Experience: Current or very recent day-to-day experience evaluating secondary school qualifications, leaving certificates, exam results, and transcripts.
- Broad Geographic & Jurisdictional Relevancy: Demonstrated familiarity with differing international approaches to recognition—particularly contrasting North American decentralized models with European centralized qualification frameworks and recognition conventions (e.g., Lisbon Recognition Convention). While deep expertise in every national system is not expected, the co-author must understand how these differing structural philosophies affect secondary credential comparability and ensure the training avoids bias toward a single system.
- Cross-Sector Applicability: Ability to ensure curriculum relevance across all primary evaluation constituencies, including higher education admissions offices, secondary schools, independent evaluation services, institutional registrars, employers, immigration authorities, and professional licensing bodies.
- Contemporary Practices & Gap Identification: Capacity to address modern evaluation challenges—such as digital credentials, verification workflows, altered documents, and non-standard grading scales—and identify gaps (and fill those gaps) in our current materials.
Scope of Work & Deliverables
Working in direct collaboration with the first co-author, TAICEP’s president and president-elect, the co-author will:
- Audit and update existing module content: Review drafted modules for conceptual accuracy, methodological soundness, and consistent international terminology.
- Review and expand practical case studies: Evaluate the existing case study bank for realism and diversity; update or add targeted scenarios to fill specific geographic or qualification-type gaps.
- Harmonize knowledge checks: Review and refine existing practice questions, grading rubrics, and evaluation rationales.
- Final sign-off: Collaborate on final revisions following TAICEP editorial reviews before modules enter platform production.
Why Co-Author This Training?
While this project requires a committed investment of time and expertise, it offers significant professional impact:
- High-Visibility Professional Attribution: Receive co-author credit in TAICEP’s digital learning platform and international promotional campaigns.
- Shape the Field’s Standards: Directly influence how secondary school credentials from across the globe are evaluated and interpreted by admissions officers, evaluators, and licensing authorities worldwide.
- Demonstrated Service & Scholarship: Gain formal documentation of leadership from an international professional association—ideal for tenure dossiers, promotion reviews, and annual institutional evaluations.
- Expand Your Professional Network: Work closely alongside seasoned colleagues to establish benchmarks that support practitioners across higher education, private evaluation services, and credential evaluation networks.
Project Details & Compensation
- Optional Honorarium: $1,950 upon successful delivery and final acceptance of all assigned deliverables.
- Timeline:
- Phase 1 (Drafting): 3 months from contract execution to submit the complete revised curriculum and case studies.
- Phase 2 (Editorial Review & Revisions): Continued availability during the subsequent review cycle to address editorial feedback and finalize the text prior to platform production.
- Format: Fully virtual/remote collaboration.
- Employer / Institutional Clearance: We recognize that institutional conflict-of-interest, outside employment, and intellectual property policies vary across higher education and evaluation agencies. If applicable, please consult your supervisor, human resources, or outside activities office prior to formal engagement to determine which structure aligns with your employer’s policies. We can accommodate several arrangements:
- Direct Individual Honorarium: Disbursed directly to you as an independent contractor (for independent evaluators or professionals permitted by their institution to receive outside compensation).
- Institutional Disbursement: Disbursed directly to your employer/institution.
- Institutional Service / In-Kind: Completed as part of your regular professional service with no disbursement, with TAICEP providing formal documentation of service contribution.
- Intellectual Property & Copyright Assignment: All instructional modules, practical scenarios, assessments, and resulting course media will remain the sole, exclusive intellectual property and copyright of TAICEP (via work-for-hire or irrevocable assignment of copyright for uncompensated/service contributors). While co-authors receive full public attribution and formal professional recognition, neither the contributing author nor their employing institution retains proprietary or commercial claims to the curriculum.
